
POSITION: Administrative Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION
High Jump, a small educational non-profit organization dedicated to providing academic enhancement to talented middle school students with limited income, is seeking an experienced well-organized individual to provide administrative support. The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks and have strong computer skills. Excellent oral and written communications skills are essential. This is a great opportunity for a special individual who enjoys the fast pace and multiple challenges of the nonprofit sector.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides administrative/clerical support to the Executive Director and staff.
Interfaces with the Board of Directors on behalf of the Executive Director.
Assists in scheduling, confirming and managing all meetings.
Maintains organizational files and office forms.
Prepare/fax/file/track correspondence.
Assists in maintaining all development records and acknowledges all donor gifts.
Assists in the production and dissemination of all direct mailings, mass mailings and invitations.
Assists in the production of the newsletter and maintenance of the website.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree preferred from an accredited college or university
Must have strong administrative skills. Raiser’s Edge or similar development software/database experience a plus.
Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with parents, staff, and community are critical for this position.

POSITION: Recruitment and Alumni Officer
POSITION DESCRIPTION
High Jump is seeking an energetic and innovative individual with strong leadership and organizational skills who is capable of working with a diverse population of students and families. The ideal candidate will maintain a professional environment that will inspire and release the talents of High Jump participants.
The recruitment and alumni officer will be responsible for the following:
• During the school year, makes periodic visits and presentations to elementary and middle schools in the Chicago area regarding High Jump’s application process. The candidate must be able to articulate the program’s mission, curriculum, and academic policies.
• In conjunction with the program director, provide guidance and direction to High Jump’s current participants on public, parochial, and independent high school application and financial aid procedures.
• Communicates to program director and executive director the concerns of participants regarding program policies and procedures.
• Develops and maintains relationships with secondary schools and representatives.
• Coordinates mailings to prospective participants.
• Assists with organizing annual high school fair.
• Works with the program’s development director to raise awareness of the program through advertising and through other media outreach.
• Strengthens alumni programs, including its database (high school and college matriculations, job placements, etc.) and works with alumni to diversify funding for the program through personal donations and company match programs.
• Performs other assigned duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience. Bilingual Spanish candidates preferred.
• Applicants must have strong leadership, management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with parents, staff, and community are critical for this position.
• The ability to travel in and out of the city is required.
Salary is negotiable and will be competitive. This position will be open until filled.
